I enjoy that this song is just casually about a vampire. Or maybe about a lover who feels like a vampire when their affection bleeds you dry. Plus, Arrows in Action is a pretty cool band name.
I’ve got this feelin’ that she gonna be the death of me Blood runnin’ hot when I’m feedin’ off of her energy She leads me down alleyways under false pretense Sharpen her teeth, flash a smile before she pulls me down
I can feel it in her bite There’s somethin’ just a little more than ecstasy Beneath those pretty little eyes
I’m saying quote of the week because that sounds all official and like something I do all the time. Maybe I will because I always read or hear lines I love. This one is from YIPPIE-KI-YAY by Kesha.
It’s evident you don’t know that I’m heaven sent Edison couldn’t get this lit
Should I be ashamed that I like Kesha? Well, I’m not and never have been. I even went to a concert once, though the only parts I remember now were glitter and one of her dancers in a penis costume.
Heard an old song the other day… or old-ish by alternative music standards, not old as in from the 50’s. Anyway, this is Little Secrets by Passion Pit. I loved it back when it first came out and it’s still great now.
Do you need some positivity in your life today? There’s a song for that! This is A-O-K by Tai Verdes. I love this song, and I probably would have written ‘a-okay’ but that’s not the official name, so I went with how it’s listed and it doesn’t bother me at all… okay, maybe it bothers me a little, but I respect the title!
Matt Maeson makes some pretty good music. While I might like Cringe better because I listened to it an absurd number of times on repeat more than once, I also enjoy (the song) Hallucinogenics.
Side note, my initial attempt to spell ‘hallucinogenics’ was barely recognizable.
It’s an impressive song, but I admit I’m a little disappointed because I thought there was a lyric where he expressed interest in finding a man who is strong, tall, and Christian. The lyric is actually ‘go find yourself a man who’s strong and tall and Christian.’
When I’m writing, there’s always background music. Usually instrumental or classical, though occasionally something with words. I don’t pay much attention to it, but when a song called ‘Dance Naked Under Palmtrees’ came on, I took notice. Probably because it says ‘dance naked under palmtrees’ over and over.
So here’s a friendly reminder to dance naked under palmtrees. If you want to.
As the person who makes everything gay, I make everything gay. Or that’s just how I see the world. But sometimes it’s easy. This is a song I love, 2 Heads by Coleman Hell. I always imagine its about two women who fell into forbidden love in a small town. The small town part comes in because there’s twangy sound elements. And the two women part is because of the lyrics.
The lyrics go like this:
There must be something in the water And there must be something about your daughter She said our love ain’t nothing but a monster
Which to me could be a little different. It’s really easy for that to become this: “There must be something in the water, and there must be something about your daughter,” she said. “Our love ain’t nothing but a monster.”
Do you ever get a weird song stuck in your head? If you are a human being, the answer is probably. And if the human being is me, then I have a song stuck in my head right now. I guess it’s just the subject matter that’s weird, because the song is oddly catchy. The subject is cults.
Speaking of weirdos, I write a series about a giant loser and his boyfriend. This is a cut part from One Little Liewhere Ryan and Luke are hanging out in Ryan’s room being cute. They can’t be as on top of each other as they want to be because Ryan’s dad is home, they are teenagers, and Ryan’s father possibly owns a firearm. Okay, you are caught up.

Luke
“As much as I like your dad, you should probably open the door, so he doesn’t come back.”
“I don’t wanna get up.” Ryan groaned and buried his face in my chest. “Carry me.”
“Yeah, like that would work.”
Ryan was taller than me, though it was hard to tell when we were lying on the bed and he was clinging onto me like an octopus. I poked him in the side with a finger and he squirmed, so I did it again. He clung onto me tighter in retaliation, but I didn’t mind him being pressed up close to me in the first place, so I let him.
“Are you calling me fat?” he asked in a mock scandalized tone but didn’t pull away.
“I’m calling you a giant.” I wrapped my arms around him instead of pushing him away like I was supposed to. This wasn’t cuddling or something girly like that. It was just… a lying down hug. Okay, that didn’t sound any better.
He pulled his head back enough to glare. “You’re ruining the mood.”
“Think your dad did that,” I pointed out.
“Yeah, he’s good at that,” Ryan sighed before pulling away and getting up and opening the door.
“Too bad,” I continued. “I’m sure you were looking forward to doing that yourself.” Ryan was a smartass and could be kinda awkward, so he wasn’t the smoothest guy I’d ever dated. Well, no, he was, because he was the only guy I ever dated. Somehow, he made being weird seem attractive.
He came back and sat on the bed, hitting me in the stomach with a hand. “How dare you,” he protested. “I am romantic and sexy and errrrrotic.” He dragged the ‘r’ sound out while waggling his eyebrows at me.
Okay, sometimes he made being weird attractive and sometimes he was just weird. But still, it was cute coming from him. Even if I didn’t tell him that. “See that right there?” I asked smugly. “Ruining the mood.”
Here is a post where I share a song I like because I don’t have anything else to say. I mean, because it’s vitally important you hear this music! Actually, no, I just felt like sharing.
True story, I heard this version first before the original by Beyonce.
Did you know the song Simply the Best is by Tina Turner? If you’re me, you definitely didn’t know that until right now. And if your first question after hearing the name Tina Turner is, hey, is she still alive? Yes! She’s Swiss now so that’s cool.
True story, I don’t like ballads. Which is less a story and more a sentence about my musical preferences. Simply the Best is no exception, so I’m not a fan of the song. However, I do like Tina Turner and have vague memories of trying to dance like her when I was a toddler. It’s a really good thing no photographic evidence of that exists because it sounds very embarrassing for me.
As someone with no musical ability, it’s crazy how someone can take a song and sing it differently and then I love it. Is it magic? I have no idea! I really love this version of the song by Noah Reid.
